This year, we are excited to add the

Heartland Chamber Music Festival

Concerto Competition!

The first place winner will receive full tuition and a solo concerto performance with the Festival Orchestra.  There are prizes for second and third place as well.  Click here to learn more.

The Summer Festival is an exciting 9 days of chamber music, orchestra, master classes, and student, faculty, and guest performances!  Each summer, string players and pianists ages 12-26 are selected by audition to work one-on-one with internationally renown faculty members who have gathered for the festival with the purpose of inspiring and nurturing the students' development.

Sixteen students will be selected to perform with the Camerata Chamber Orchestra and perform live on KPR during the Festival!

All performances take place in Yardley Hall or Polsky Theatre at the Carlsen Center at JCCC.

Students must be 15 years of age to stay unaccompanied by an adult.  HCM provides adult supervision for students over the age of 15 staying at Hawthorne during the Festival dates.  Please e-mail mpatch@heartlandchambermusic.org to make your room reservation.  We will provide a roommate list a week before the Festival begins.

The cost per night, with taxes is $105.11.  If you opt to share a room with another student, you would each pay half, which comes to $52.56 a night or $525.55 the the entirety of the festival.  If you decide to have a room to yourself, the total would be double that.

The hotel does serve complimentary breakfast.  Other than that, students are responsible for their own meals.  The rooms do have a kitchenette and there is a grocery story only a block away.  Or, there are many restaurants within walking distance from the hotel and college.
